Celebrating “World Day of the Poor” @ St. Mark’s Church

Pope Francis has designated November 16, 2025, as the World Day of the Poor. In line with our founding mission Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum— to uphold the faith and serve the sick and the poor—the Order of Malta (Thailand), together with St. Mark’s Church in Pathum Thani Province, organized the annual “Day of the Sick and the Poor” on 15 November 2025 at St. Mark’s Church. This marks the sixth auspicious occasion on which the event has taken place.

Volunteers and members of the Order of Malta joined with Catholic medical professionals, the ambulance team from Saint Louis Hospital, and numerous volunteers from St. Mark’s Parish and surrounding communities. Together, they provided comprehensive care—physical, emotional, and spiritual—to bedridden patients and those in need. Activities included a Thanksgiving Mass and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, haircuts, nail trimming, breakfast and lunch services, blood sugar and blood pressure screening, personal conversations and encouragement, health guidance, and the distribution of 200 sets of essential supplies. Some members also donated toys, snacks, footballs, 25 pairs of shoes, and one adjustable wheelchair.

A key highlight of the event was the spiritual care led by Father Carlo Velardo, the Order’s chaplain, together with Father Adriano, Father Kittisak (pastor), Father Thepprasith, and Father Chatri. They offered spiritual support to the sick and the underprivileged, reminding them that they are never alone—that they are surrounded by the love of others and the abiding presence of God.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone whose generosity and collaboration made this meaningful outreach possible.

We offer our prayers for all the patients and community members—may they be strengthened in spirit and richly blessed by God, even in the most challenging times.
