SOVEREIGN MILITARY HOSPITALLER ORDER OF ST JOHN OF JERUSALEM OF RHODES AND OF MALTA

Asia Pacific Youth Camp for the Disabled 2024 in Pattaya City

On September 3-5, 2024, the event was beautifully executed and filled with joy, fun, and big smiles from both the organizers and participants. The Asia Pacific Youth Camp for the Disabled 2024, led by Confrere Thom Sirisant, Father Carlo Velado, Ajarn Dominic Lim, and the team of Brothers, brought together youth with disabilities from five countries in the Asia-Pacific region for three full days of enjoyment. Activities included field games such as archery, balloon popping, and duck walking, as well as the highly enjoyable Christopher Cup Challenge, which this year was won by the Philippines team. All these activities allowed participants to fully showcase their engagement and potential.

In addition, there were simple yet delicious none baking skills activities using ingredients readily available in Thailand, and traditional Thai crafts like making “Pla Ta Pian”. Everyone put in a great effort, resulting in beautiful and admirable creations. We also took everyone on a city tour of Pattaya, including visits and activities at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club and Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the management teams of these venues for their excellent hospitality.

At Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, we enjoyed spectacular performances representing 4 parts of Thailand, an impressive elephant show, and the highlight for many, the elephant rides. Alongside the fun, we dedicated time to spiritual reflection, including daily Missals, praying the Rosary, and participating in the Candle Night Walk in honor of the Virgin Mary.

We extend our gratitude to Bangkok Bank, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand Pattaya Office, as well as all the generous individuals who facilitated the participants’ travel to Thailand and provided Thai snacks (mango sticky rice). We also thank Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for supporting emergency ambulance services and nursing staff, and St. Theresa International University for providing nursing services throughout the event. Special thanks to Father Anthony Wiboon Limpanawooth and the dedicated team at the Pattaya Redemptorist Center for their continuous support in every aspect of the event, including providing food, drinks, and meeting rooms. We sincerely hope that all everyone enjoyed the event and received abundant blessings.
