Ubon Ratchathani 15th November to 17th November 2019.
On the first day the Order of Malta-Thailand distributed blankets and household equipment to hundreds of flood victims who were still struggling due to the severe flooding in September that effected 400,000 houses, as well as businesses and places of worship.
On the first day we mostly visited rural villages where we donated blankets and warm clothes as winter was approaching. We also donated household products which included electric wall sockets, electric bulbs, and wiring.
Thankfully volunteers were on hand to help us and help the elderly with restoring their homes by installing electric wall sockets and light fittings.
On the second day the Order visited the Church of the Visitation, Wat Had-Khu-Dua and a small 130 years old St .Anna Church, and the communities near by.
Where ever we went news spread quickly that the Order will be delivering blankets and electric appliances that was most needed to be replaced due to the flooding.
Hundreds turned out on the second day to receive the much needed blankets as the cold weather has arrived and without disappointment the Order of Malta-Thailand had ample of supplies to give to everyone who came, together with wall electric sockets, light bulbs and warm winter clothes.
Donations were also given for the restoration of The Church of Visitation and to St.Anna Church for repairing the church pews, floor tiles and for painting the church walls that were damaged by water.
After delivering the blankets at St. Anna Church, The Order was reminded that two years before it had donated 3 wheelchairs to the community.
The long time friendship between the people of Ubon Ratchathani and The Order of Malta-Thailand had started.
