Wheelchair Project
The Wheelchair Project has been existing since 2016. It is an annual project, where we reach out and partner with dioceses for potential candidates. Each year we receive an overwhelming response. The wheelchairs are purchased and distributed to those in need, most especially the elderly, bedridden, and those who can partially help themselves, but cannot afford it, many of whom live in extreme poverty in towns and villages.
The wheelchairs provide the recipients with greater flexibility as otherwise they usually are reliant on family members which puts a strain on the household. Once they get the wheelchair it brings a lot of relief and builds confidence and uplifts them, enabling them to be self-sufficient in as much as is possible. It has a particular impact especially on those who are formally bedridden and reliant on others, but now can freely move and be self-reliant.
